Pinnacle Ozone Solutions has released Episode 14 of Pinnacle Academy, its educational video series on ozone technology for water treatment. In this episode, host Sannel Patel is joined by Carl Wilkinson, Technical Director, and Rebecca Gernetzke, Business Development Manager, from Statiflo for a conversation on how static mixer gas dispersion systems improve ozone gas-liquid mass transfer.

Effective mixing is one of the most important factors in ozone system performance. Carl and Rebecca explain how breaking large gas bubbles into a uniform bubble size distribution increases surface area and concentration gradients, allowing systems to reach mass transfer efficiencies of around 95 percent. Better transfer means more of the generated ozone goes to work in the water.

The discussion walks through the sidestream plus mainline static mixer approach, which pairs Venturi injection with sidestream static mixing, and how these systems are designed to perform across changing operating conditions. Strategies covered include using multiple sidestreams, managing pressure drop, and balancing pressure loss against energy use.

The episode also looks at how to measure good mixing results, when CFD simulation adds confidence to a design, and lessons from real projects, including footprint constraints and avoiding overly rigid design assumptions. The conversation closes with a look at advanced oxidation process (AOP) applications and where ozone mixing technology is headed.
