Pinnacle Ozone Solutions has released Episode 10 of Pinnacle Academy, its ongoing video series exploring the technology and engineering behind effective ozone systems. In this installment, host Sannel Patel is joined by Thomas Steinke and Erich DeLang of Mazzei Injector Company to examine two components of ozone system design that are frequently overlooked: injection and mass transfer.

The conversation walks through how Mazzei injector technology moves ozone into water efficiently, beginning with the Venturi and Bernoulli principles that underpin the design. Steinke and DeLang then describe how the injector works alongside secondary mixing devices, including flash reactors and basin nozzle manifolds, to achieve higher transfer efficiency across a system.

Efficiency is a central theme of the episode. Steinke and DeLang point to a real-world example in which a single percentage point of mass transfer efficiency can equate to roughly $90,000 a year, underscoring how much operating cost rides on injection performance. The two also discuss common design pitfalls that surface when generator output or system back pressure shifts, along with examples from real-world projects and where injection system technology is headed next.
