The Senior Mechanical Engineer leads the mechanical design of Pinnacle’s ozone generation systems and related process equipment, from initial system layout through fabrication support, submittals, and field commissioning. This person works closely with Sales, Electrical/Controls Engineering, Manufacturing, and Project Management to turn customer requirements into buildable, code-compliant designs, and serves as a technical mentor to less-experienced engineers on the team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Systems design – Develop mechanical designs for ozone generators, oxygen feed systems, cooling water systems, and injection/destruct equipment, including P&IDs, general arrangement drawings, and equipment sizing calculations.
  • Project engineering – Serve as lead mechanical engineer on assigned projects, coordinating with electrical/controls engineering on panel layout and I/O, with manufacturing on fabrication feasibility, and with project management on schedule and budget.
  • Submittals & documentation – Prepare and review scopes of supply, equipment schedules, datasheets, and customer submittal/transmittal packages for accuracy and completeness.
  • Code & standards compliance – Ensure designs meet applicable codes and standards (ASME, NEC, UL 508A panel coordination, state/local water treatment codes) and support UL panel reviews with the controls team.
  • Vendor & component selection – Evaluate and specify pumps, valves, heat exchangers, piping, and other mechanical components; work with suppliers on lead time, cost, and technical fit.
  • Commissioning support – Provide engineering support during fabrication, factory testing, and occasional field startup/commissioning for new systems.
  • Mentorship – Review the work of junior and mid-level engineers, and help develop internal design standards and templates.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field.
  • 7+ years of mechanical design experience in industrial equipment, process systems, or capital equipment manufacturing (water/wastewater treatment experience strongly preferred).
  • Proficiency with 3D CAD (SolidWorks or equivalent) and P&ID development.
  • Working knowledge of pressure vessel, piping, and pump system design.
  • Experience preparing engineering documentation for customer submittals (datasheets, drawings, equipment schedules).
  • Strong cross-functional communication skills – comfortable working directly with sales, controls engineering, manufacturing, and customers.

Preferred

  • Experience with ozone generation, oxygen/gas handling, or water treatment process equipment.
  • Familiarity with UL 508A panel requirements and coordination with controls engineers.
  • Experience supporting field startup/commissioning of industrial equipment.

Compensation & Benefits

Salary Range: $95,000 – $125,000 per year, based on experience

  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance
    • 401(k) with company match
    • Paid time off and paid holidays
    • Performance-based bonus eligibility
    • On-the-job growth into technical leadership as the engineering team scales
